Wellbeing Support
Here you can find lots of resources to support the emotional wellbeing of both adults and children.
If you are concerned about your child's emotional wellbeing, please talk to their teacher. In the first instance, the teacher and TAs can support them, and we can also refer them for ELSA sessions (time with our Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) where they can talk issues through and develop coping strategies.
For family support and advice on anything to do with parenting, please contact Esther Hardie, our Family Support Worker, who has a wealth of experience, advice and resources at her fingertips.
The Good Morning Club
We are proud at SJS to be a TGMC Flagship school!
The Good Morning Club provides families with easy access to practical support and guidance to help children thrive both at home and at school. Through the Parent Link section of the website (TGMC), parents and carers can find information about emotional regulation, anxiety, wellbeing and strategies to support children who may be experiencing worries or challenges. The site also includes resources about the use of regulation backpacks, which contain carefully selected tools and activities that can help children recognise, understand and manage their emotions. This approach is consistent with the provision we use in school, where we support children to develop self-regulation skills, build resilience and access appropriate strategies when they need them, creating a shared and supportive approach between home and school.
The Parent Portal is packed with practical tools and guidance designed especially for home life, including:
- Bite-sized video advice for common behavioural challenges- all aligned with the strategies we use in school, to create consistency and reinforce positive habits
- Access to the Digital Backpack- an interactive tool to help children learn how to manage emotions and self-regulate more effectively. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to work together in supporting your child's growth and wellbeing both at school and at home.
