Transition
At Shirley Junior School, we recognise that all children benefit from explicit teaching and support when managing transition and change. With this in mind, we have developed a planned approach to support every child.
Throughout the Summer term, we are delivering a transition curriculum, consisting of six lessons across the half term, designed to help children understand and manage change, build confidence, and prepare positively for their move into their new class. What we are doing in school to support the children:
- Using positive reframing to help children see change as an opportunity
- Having Transition Ambassadors available on the playground each day to answer children’s questions
- Providing increased check-ins with staff
- Transition curriculum - 6 lessons teaching children about transition and the opportunities that change can bring.
